HOW CAN WE HELP?
COMMON QUESTIONS
Common Issues
In most setups, your website uses a pre-defined email address (typically notices@[yourwebsite.com] to send customer inquiries and other notices to you. If you typically receive notices from that email address, please contact Greg using the chat button on this page for help.
In other setups, one of your own email accounts is used to send notifications to you. If you change the password for this email account, the website must also be updated, or notifications will no longer work. To update your website's email password, do the following:
1. Login to your website admin at: yourwebsite.com/wp-admin
2. On the left menu, find and click Post SMTP
3. Under the Start the Wizard button, click Show All Settings
4. Find the Password field at the bottom and replace what is there with the new password. Then click Save Changes.
If you still receive a login (credentials) error after ensuring the correct password is saved and you use G-Suite or Gmail, it's possible that Google disabled "Less Secure Apps" on your account. Click here to view this setting, enable it, then try again.
If this button appear at the top of your site, it means a recent WooCommerce update was installed and it uses a new database structure that requires your permission to update. Until this button is clicked, the website will continue working, under the old structure.
We usually handle this update for you, however you are free to click this button without worry if we happen to miss it.
Billing and Service Charges
Company 50 does not bill you for your annual domain registration. Your registrar (most clients use Namecheap or GoDaddy) will send you an emailed invoice directly, usually 30 days before your domain expires. Do not ignore this notice and pay it promptly. If you allow your domain registration to lapse, you can lose your domain name entirely. If receive a domain registration bill or other "invoice" tied to your website and have a question about the legitimacy of it, feel free to send us a screenshot or forward it for advice.
Company 50 may bill you for one or more of the following services:
Hosting - Hosting service is required for all websites to be connected to the Internet. Hosting is either billed monthly, or at a discount if invoiced yearly.
SSL/TLS Certificate - Required for all e-commerce websites and strongly recommended for all websites. This certificate proves that the visitor is accessing the website they think they are and ensures encryption of all data that passes from your customers to your website - including but not limited to credit card information, customer inquiries, and transaction data. This charge is billed annually and covers the certificate, the mixed content plugin w/support, and a guarantee that your website pages will all load properly with full encryption.
Support Plan - Support plans are optional but provide substantial benefits for your website and you. Support plans are billed monthly. A variety of plans are available, offering different features and pricing.
Support Overage - If you exceed your monthly/banked Support Credits, you will be billed at a discounted rate for the time and or software licenses you require that exceeds your available balance of credits. You can view your available Support Credits in realtime on your account page.
Support (No Plan) - If you require website assistance and do not have an active Support Plan, you are billed straight time at our standard hourly rate, currently $169/hr.
To change your credit card information for your Support Plan, just login to your account and visit the Payment Methods section. Add your new payment method and remove the old one to ensure future charges are billed to the correct card.
To change your credit card on file for any other service, visit our New Card on File page and submit your information using our secure form.
Get a Strange Email?
The only valid domain-related email you should receive is from your registrar, once per year, when your renewal is due. If we registered your domain for you, your domain registrar is Namecheap. Your Namecheap login info is located on the Access Sheet we provided you when your website was completed.
If you registered your domain name yourself, your registrar could be Namecheap, GoDaddy, Google, or one of many others. However, even if we did not register your domain, your registrar and login info is located on the Access Sheet we provided you when your website was completed.
You may receive random email solicitations trying to sell you SEO services. Most of these SEO services are based overseas and use shady techniques to temporarily try to improve your Google rankings. Google typically reacts to this rigging of the rankings by restricting your listings or outright banning your website. The SEO company doesn't care at this point because they've gotten their money and since they are overseas, cannot be easily sued.
Other SEO companies are legitimate but promise to get you on the front page for extremely popular keywords, when it is impossible to guarantee. Usually, they will require a several month commitment and cannot provide any assurance that you will see results. For this reason, Company 50 does not offer SEO services. We don't feel it is right to charge for a service in which we cannot promise any results at all.
A common scam email that our clients often receive is one that indicates your website is riddled with "errors", is missing metadata, is not optimized for Google, etc. Sometimes they will include a "report" or a link to a website that simulates all sorts of problems that your website allegedly has.
Company 50 designs all client websites with fully optimized SEO techniques, including complete image metadata, titles with proper keywords, and schema markup. Websites are coded using a reliable and highly tuned platform, free of errors and incompatibilities. Our client sites are thoroughly tested before they are released to the customer as complete.
Nonetheless, if you have concerns, we welcome the opportunity to review any issues with ou that your website is claimed to have.
